Pill Drop Off Program

Pill Drop Off Program Opens in new windowAbout the Program

On March 7, 2011 the Fraser department of public safety began accepting unused, unwanted or expired prescription or over the counter drugs for safe disposal, no questions asked and at no cost. Since that time we have collected hundreds of pounds of pills and participated in several Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) take bake programs.

Drug Abuse

Prescription drug abuse is a serious growing problem in our community. Disposing of these drugs safely can be difficult, however preventing teens from having access is our goal. Seven out of the ten drugs most commonly abused by teenagers are prescription medicines, this can be avoided by simply disposing of these drugs the proper way.

Collection Box

The collection box is in the Fraser department of public safety lobby and is available 24 hours a day. We do not accept needles or liquids, glass or hazardous materials. A small bag will be provided for you to empty the medicines into but please remove them from their packages or bottles. We take the medicines you take the packaging. The bag can then be placed in the secure collection box for proper disposal. We want to ensure these drugs are destroyed properly to protect others from misusing them and also to protect the environment
